Online voice lessons require a few things on your end, which I’ve outlined for you below. Pro tip: Try your best to set up your space like a voice studio. Set up your laptop/microphone so you can be seen while standing and singing, and have your music stand nearby to easily see music.
Necessities:
Laptop or tablet (phones are too small), with decent speaker
A space where you will not be disturbed for the duration of the lesson and are free to make a wide range of sounds
Fast internet connection
Music stand or similar
Phone or other music player to play accompaniment tracks
Extras (optional):
Mirror
Piano/keyboard
High quality microphone
There are two options for piano accompaniment—live and recorded. Most students choose to use recorded accompaniment tracks, but you are welcome to have a pianist in the lesson if you prefer. This would be most useful when working on repertoire, particularly when preparing for auditions.
Investing in a Lesson Package is the best way to guarantee a weekly recurring lesson time. If we’ve never worked together before, the best place to start is by filling out the Contact Form so that we can schedule a Trial Lesson or a Free 15-minute Consultation to discuss your singing goals and find the setup that’s best for you.
I use Zoom for online lessons—the quality is great, and it comes with more functionality (screen-sharing, file sharing, chat, etc.) than Skype or Facetime. Zoom is totally free, and can be used in a browser or through a downloaded application.
Single Voice Lessons are possible, but sometimes difficult to schedule due to availability. If you’re interested in a single lesson, feel free to fill out the Contact Form so that we can schedule a Trial Lesson or a Free 15-minute Consultation where we can discuss your singing goals and find the setup that’s best for you.
All lesson cancellations require 48-hour notice in order to qualify for a refund or make-up lesson. See the Studio Policies page for more information.
